Update from ITPNZ

Here's a quick weekly update from ITP CEO Paul Matthews

The ITP National Board met this week to review progress against the Annual Plan. As well as additional things such as a large qualifications review and input into the Review of Vocational Education, almost all of the Annual Plan projects are progressing really well.

Also, don't forget that ITx Rutherford 2019 Earlybird Registrations close tomorrow, so save $100 by registering today. We would love to have you along. Plus, the app has been released on Apple AppStore and Google Play, and the programme continues to get better! Don't miss out.

How are things progressing this year?

The ITP National Board met on Wednesday in Wellington this week, to review progress towards this year's annual plan (amongst other things).

By and large, things at ITP are in a very good place. We've made significant progress on the annual plan items, especially ITx Rutherford 2019 and the Tahi Rua Toru Tech in-school programme, but the other items as well.

Projects well in hand include:

  • Establishing our free skills development advisory service for ITP Corporate Partners (as well as a paid consultancy arm to help organisations with the implementation)
  • ITx Rutherford 2019 - this is going gangbusters! Registrations are flowing in and we have a truly incredible programme lined up
  • Tahi Rua Toru Tech, our in-school programme is bursting at the seams with schools participating. It's really taken off this year and we're in the process of looking at what next year looks like
  • Immigration Skills and Qualifications Assessment - this is happening and we're providing excellent expertise into the qualification assessment process
  • Seoul Accord - work is continuing in this space

Projects underway to be complete by the end of the year:

  • Expansion of the promotion of our CITPNZ and CTech certifications. You may have seen more of this online and (for example) on billboards at the airport, but we have more planned as well, especially for the October/November period.
  • Launch expanded Mentoring Programme - we have an excellent Mentoring programme in place but are making some major changes - stay tuned for details before the end of the year.
  • A major new service for ITP members - we can't wait to announce this towards the end of the year, for an early 2020 release. More in due course.

There's a heap of other things going on under "business as usual" of course, including courses, events and much much more. We're also heavily involved in providing an independent voice influencing various Govt, educational and other initiatives.

Our professional membership has also grown this year, which is always good. Our subsidiary companies are also both doing really well, and meeting their dual purpose of funding ITP's activities while also contributing to the benefit we provide New Zealand.

And lastly, we're performing well financially these days - probably in a better position than any other time in the organisation's 59-year history.

So by and large, the Board found things are progressing really well and this is down to the incredible and broad range of people who contribute to our profession's success. This includes the genuinely dedicated team of professionals we have at the ITP head office in Wellington, but also those who contribute to ITP in all sorts of ways including our National Board, Branch Committees across NZ, other Boards and Working Groups, via Tahi Rua Toru Tech and Techhub in-school programmes and much much more.

So if you're contributing to your profession through ITP, thank you! We're all working together to make a really big difference.
