Quick ITP update and upcoming events

There's so much going on at ITP at the moment; you'll be seeing lots of different emails and posts about how to get involved in various activities.
So I thought I'd take a few minutes to outline some of the key opportunities here, in one place!
Also, check out the ITP Video Library and get yourself some ITP-branded gear. Co-branding with your company is an option too.
Lots of opportunities to engage
ITP is a professional community, which means two things. Firstly, we are our members - quite literally. Without our members getting involved and helping us make a difference, nothing would ever happen. And secondly, you get out what you put in.
The best way to contribute to your profession, and get the most from your involvement with ITP is exactly that - to get involved. We'd love for you to choose one or more of the following and give us a hand!
Speak at ITx Innovation Days
This year, the big ITx conference is going on the road. In fact, we'll be running 8 different mini-conferences right across New Zealand, each showcasing the latest tech trends, local talent, case studies and so much more.
Come and speak at your local ITx Innovation Day! Technically the Call for Presentations closed on Friday, but if you get in today we'll still look at your proposed topic:
Nominate for the NZ Excellence in IT Awards
Nominations have just opened for the NZ Excellence in IT Awards!
The New Zealand Excellence in IT Awards are sector-wide awards recognising the individuals and teams who have truly excelled in our industry. While other awards focus on companies and vendors, the Excellence in IT Awards exclusively celebrates our people.
We need you to help us find those making a difference in our industry. They could be from your team, colleagues, and even self-nominations are fine :).

Get involved with your local school
We run two excellent in-school initiatives, and will shortly be offering the ability to get involved in some other nationwide school-based programmes as well.
- 123Tech is New Zealand's digital challenge in schools, where teams of students solve a problem in their school or community using digital tech. Be a team mentor
- TechHub Talks helps put tech professionals into schools to talk about a future career in tech. We take care of the details, you turn up on the day! Talk in schools
You won't find a more satisfying job than helping kids get ahead with digital tech.
Also, a massive thanks to those who financially support these programmes - we couldn't do it without the support of Datacom, NZ School of Education, and a bunch more.
Join your local Branch Committee or our Board
We're about to kick off the election process for our nationwide Branch Committees and our National Board - heaps of opportunities to get involved!
Our Branch Committees are the lifeblood of ITP in each city across New Zealand, and coordinate local activities, ensure a strong local voice and so much more. Our National Board is the overall governance body of the organization, setting the direction and strategy for ITP.
We'll be putting out more info about the elections shortly, but in the meantime you can read a bit more here.
Our Branch Committees are just as important post-Covid as they've ever been. Come and give ITP a local voice while helping ensure lots of opportunities for the tech profession to get together in your city.
Engage with the future of Tech Skills Development in New Zealand
You may have heard that we're currently leading the skills work of the Digital Technologies Industry Transformation Plan, a cross Government/Industry blueprint for scaling up and sorting out our industry going forward.
The skills workstream has run a heap of Hui and other opportunities to engage, however will shortly be sharing our "work to date" with the wider community and seeking your input.
This really will be setting the scene for the future of skills and education in our sector, so please do take a little time to have a read and tell us what you think. We'll send you more info in a couple of weeks from now.
Bring your colleagues to the ITP Update event
Why not bring your colleagues along to find out a bit more about what ITP is actually all about. Next month I'll be joining ITP President Anthony Dowling in touring around New Zealand giving an update on what we've been up to and what's planned.
So there you go - a heap of ways to get involved in ITP, and there are plenty of others too. Which will you choose?
ITP Update and Strategy Events - come along!
ITP CEO Paul Matthews and new President Anthony Dowling are heading to your place in May.
They're heading out and about around New Zealand to talk about:
- ITP's Strategy and Strategic Plan over the next few years
- Skills in the Industry Transformation Plan
- ITP's new CareerAdvance service and how it will help members get ahead
- And much more!
They'll be visiting Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, Tauranga, Palmerston North, Nelson and Dunedin next month.
Come and engage! There'll also be plenty of time for Q&A.
