This year's NetHui event, hosted by InternetNZ, is inviting submissions for its fellowship programme.

Run in a number of guises since 2011, NetHui is New Zealand's "favourite internet gathering" and is being held in Wellington in October. To ensure no-one misses out, and to get as broad a cross-section of attendees as possible, those who might need financial support to attend can apply for funding through the programme, supported by APNIC, the Asia Pacific regional registrar organisation.

NetHui's programme this year focuses on "safety, inclusion and wellbeing on the open Internet" and includes sessions on web accessibility, data privacy issues, sustainability and a number of panel discussions. The real power of NetHui comes in the break-out sessions that follow each speaker session and members of the wider community can get involved and have their say in these sessions. This year, the aim is to develop a community action plan to achieve the goals that come out of the event.

The full speaker line up is yet to be announced, but MC Michele A'Court is returning to ensure the smooth running of plenary sessions. Support is provided by sponsors including Google, APNIC, the Internet Society, Freeparking and many others, including ITP.

Past NetHui have included topics ranging from copyright and intellectual property issues to rural connectivity, to the more unusual topics including whether bitcoin is anything more than modern day snake oil to the role of online pornogrpahy.
