ITx Rutherford - Submissions now open

Techblog Staff. 10 June 2019, 7:24 am

IT Professionals New Zealand (ITP) is proud to announce the future-focused national conference celebrating IT-led innovation in New Zealand.

This year we are excited to be part of an ITX spin-off conference called ITx Rutherford - capturing the same innovation and culture of ITx but in a more intimate "retreat-style" setting in Nelson in October.

ITx is where New Zealand's digital technology sector comes together.

Delegates can attend any of the sessions at either the ITP conference or the accompanying CITRENZ 2019 conference.

The ITP 2019 national conference will bring together leading thinkers from the profession, the top ICT companies, the user community, academia, plus research and government institutions to explore innovating our way to the future. This is a must attend event for those wanting to engage a broad range of ICT stakeholders.

The programme committee is now seeking papers and presentations from both industry and academia with high-calibre, attention-grabbing content. The conference theme is broad (Innovation, Technology, Education) with a strong focus on the innovative power of ICT.

We invite individuals and organisations to submit papers and presentations on loosely theme-related practice and research, from ICT practitioners, researchers and decision makers from industry, government/public sector and academia. Note that this year ITP is not seeking formal peer-reviewed academic papers - we encourage those seeking academic publication to submit through the concurrent CITRENZ conference. However we welcome general papers from academics of course.

The papers/presentations are being organised around the following major themes.  Each submission should loosely correspond to one of the following tracks:

  1. Current and future tech trends
  2. Innovation and Research
  3. Technology and Education
  4. Professional practice*
  5. Technical
  6. General interest (i.e. everything else of interest to IT professionals)

* The professional practice theme relates to anything to do with the profession and developing professionals. This might include presentations related to a wide range of topics that engage IT professionals, whether that be in practice (such a governance, project management, development, etc) or in developing the profession as a whole.

We are seeking practitioner and general submissions, from professional industry and public sector software and IT practitioners, and academics wishing to present without submitting a formal paper. An abstract (approx 200-250 words) can be submitted now, along with a speaker profile. Accepted presentations will be edited by a professional copywriter before publication.

You can submit as many paper/presentation ideas as you wish.

CITRENZ 2019 conference is broad in scope and we now invite submissions in Computing and IT Education, Computing and IT Applied Research and Practice, and Education Technology.

CITRENZ 2019 is the premiere computing education conference in New Zealand and spans all disciplines of computing and information technology education. While focusing on tertiary education, it also provides links from secondary education and further into the computing industry. The conference regularly attracts more than 100 attendees from all over New Zealand as well as international delegates.

Papers in all the sub disciplines of the computing field, (Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science and Computer Engineering) are encouraged. We also welcome papers in the areas of educational technology, e-learning, e-Commerce, cloud, data and mobile computing.
